A white rectangle in the document window that will be a printed area. You can have more than one, and they can be any physical size (like 8 1/2 by 11) or digital size (link 64 pixels by 64 pixels)

Working with Multiple Documents

Document Tabs

Any one document can have more than one artboard, but you can also have multiple documents open at the same time.

Clicking on any part of an artboard or an object on the artboard sets that artboard to the current artboard. You can tell because it will have a black outline around it.
