Assignment 1: Personal ID

Description:

Design a personal logo and logotype for your design(or other) business. Use the initials of your first and last name to create the logo, and your full name to create the logotype.

Remember that a logo and logotype should work together in unison – you can have applications of just the logo, but the logotype is not usually show by itself. Put both the logo and the logotype in a single context, demonstrating how they look together.

Rules

  1. Your logo must be or contain a ligature, that is, it must be a combination of two or more letter-forms.
  2. A logotype isn't just your name spelled out in a font. You must put the time in to customize and carefully space out the letters used in the logotype.
  3. Hand drawn text is not allowed except under specific circumstances*. All text must come from a font, turned into outlines and modified in Illustrator.
  4. Minimum size for logo and logotype is 8" in the shortest direction.

* You may use hand drawn letters only if:

  1. They are thick and well drawn - no simple printing.
  2. They are scanned and turned into vectors in Illustrator.
  3. The image to be used must be approved by the instructor beforehand.

Submission Requirements:

Upload a single .ai document, color mode RGB, named last name-first initial-underscore-assignment1.ai (for example: khazarj_assignment1.ai).

Turn all your fonts into outlines before submitting! Remember to save your file as a backup before you turn all your fonts into outlines so you can edit it later if you need to!
