Description
Weekly Sketches
Every week, starting as soon as you get set up with your tablet and software, do a 1/2 hour or so sketch of a still-life*. Set up the still-life so you can come back to across all 18 weeks of our class.
- Use any object or objects you like, but it must be real three-dimensional physical object, like a coffee cup or a vase or a pencilbox.
- Don't do something from your imagination
- Don't do something from a printed page or a computer screen. It must be a real object
- Draw the same still-life every week
- Try and keep the lighting of the still-life consistent each time you draw it
- Make the image 8inch, by 10inch, 300ppi
- Use any brush you like. I recommend keeping it simple.
- Spend at least a 1/2 hour on each drawing
- You can do more than one week, but that's the minimum
Conslidated Sketchbook PDF
Conslidate your weekly sketchs into a single .pdf document. I will demonstrate when the time comes.
You'll be graded in large part on quantity, not quality. You'll be graded high if you've got a number of sketches close to the number of weeks in the class (18).
Don't be intimidated or feel you have to make perfect sketches! This is what I call "Art Aerobics". It more about exercising your eye-brain-hand-computer connections that it is about drawing a "good" picture.
*A still-life is a traditional composition that's been used by artist for centuries. Basically, it's setting up a scene on a table or surface indoors with objects arranged in a pleasing manner. For us, I'm only asking for a single object, but you can do more. You can even set up your still-life to include cloth drapery if you like.
