Assignment 1: Line Art

Description

Create a drawing using a Line Art technique. Line Art technique is a drawing style that uses outlines and patterns of lines to define objects and characters. We will discuss this more in class. See the wikipedia definition to get the idea if you need to.

Subject matter is your choice. Do not assume that what I want you to do should be exactly like any of the examples below. They are just for for inspiration!

Rules

• White background.
• Use lines. Draw with the "Hard Round" brush type, set to 3 pixels size.
• You may use any color for the lines you draw, but you can't use areas of solid color, or cross-hatching to imply areas of light and shade.

• Don't use the Photoshop trick of drawing straight lines with the shift-key. This project is about getting used to drawing with a graphics tablet.
• Fill the canvas. You'll be graded down for not doing so.

Format

• Photoshop .psd file
• 8 inches x 10 inches (300ppi)
• Portrait or Landscape, your choice
• Name your file lastnamefirstinitial_assignment1.psd, so for me it would be khazarj_assignment1.psd

Timeline

Start: Class 01, January 20st
Due: Class 04, February 10th (3 weeks)

15% of Final Grade
