An interesting memorial at the northwest end of Jardin des Tuileries. One of a series of hands holding hands throughout the park.

It was right near here that Camille and I encountered a young man attempting to pull the infamous “Gold Ring” scam. He approached us with what appeared to be a gold ring and tried to hand it to me. Had I taken it, he would likely have given it too me, then begged for money. He was very aggressive in trying to give me the ring, but I loudly said (after his second attempt to push it into my face) that he should GO AWAY. That finally got him going away. Camille later mentioned that she'd seen a couple walking nearby that seemed to be in cahouts with the young man. Some web searching reveals that its an old scam that's been a part of Paris for generations.
