Modification Keys


  • Shift to constrain
    • Left or right drag stays on the horizontal
    • Up or down drag stays on the vertical
    • Diagonal drag stays on 45degree angles
    • Drag on a handle, shape retains aspect ration/proportions
    • Create a new shape, it stays a square or a circle instead of an ellipse or rectangle

  • Option to pick color

  • Command to move layer

  • Spacebar to move canvas

  • Control for popup menu of brushes

  • "[" and "]" increases/decreases brush size

  • "<" and ">" (or "," and ".") moves through brush palette
  • Cool trick: click once with most tools, then shift-click again and a straight line is drawn between the two points by the tool

    • Beware of creating images that look like "out of the box photoshop"
  • Blur/Gaussian Blur
  • Add Noise/Despeckle/Dust & Scratches

  • Remember that you can limit the effect with a selection
