- The Masks Panel
- Relatively new way in Photoshop to work with selections as "masks" which can be edited without damaging the original image.
- Magnetic lasso
- Click once to establish a starting point, then release. Follow an edge with the mouse to create a selection edge.
- Drop points where you want to make sure the selection edge will stick. This is called a "Fastening Point"
- The control panel at the top of the screen offers various settings
- Shortcut keys:
- Option - subtract from selection
- Control - popup menu of options
- Delete - deletes last fastening point. Goes back one point each time it's hit.
- Complete the selection by
- Clicking on the starting point
- Double-clicking
- Hit Return or Enter
- Quick selection
- Click in an area then drag to expand the selection
- Magic wand
- Selects similar colors
